Vulnerability, poverty and lack of food security are major challenges hindering the economic advancement of many developing and under-developed countries. Similarly, the government disburse a huge amount in combatting the risks caused by these challenges. The combined efforts of public and private institutions in tackling vulnerability and poverty may fail as a result of errors relating to the lack of providing appropriate data and information about the risks associated with these challenges and the potential damage to the rural communities in particular and the country at large. There are many ways to assess risks and poverty considering the context and availability of resources. The problem of bias and statistical errors constitutes formidable barriers to making an ideal analysis of poverty incidence and vulnerability. To ensure this, certain tools and techniques that allow the disaggregation of poverty into actionable units are required, and they include selected schemes for weighing the poverty index and ranking within units. Overcoming the challenges of poverty mapping, targeting and vulnerability analysis by adopting the best tools and techniques is crucial to poverty alleviation and it requires intensive training. There is the need for organisations to equip themselves with skills in vulnerability assessment. Thus, this training will avail the participants the opportunity of acquiring and applying advanced tools and techniques for robust analysis of these social concepts.
