In today’s society, community participation is the core principle in the implementation of most developmental projects. An effective community mobilization involves engaging the community members in identifying their needs and priorities. Communication is also an essential part of community mobilization and in order to achieve sustainable project results and increased participation, communication & mobilization must be utilized. Effective communication leads to an effective collaborative effort from the community members. Community mobilization is vital as community members can only be properly mobilized when there is effective communication, reporting and documentation of project activities to ensure that the objectives and impact of the project are advocated to the relevant stakeholders. As participation increases, so will the community sense of ownership and willingness for partnership on the maintenance and sustenance of project. Therefore, capacity building of project officers in the areas of communication, media use, mobilization, documentation, and reporting is vital, in order for them to lead and manage programmes/projects to success, as well as ensure that programme/project goals are sustainable. This training is designed to enhance and upgrade the skills of participants on participatory project management.
