To address a growing demand for development programmes with sustainable results and strengthened institutional capacity, the World Bank developed the Programme-for-Result (PforR) financing instrument in 2012. Pfor R fosters partnership with governments and other development agencies in financing and operating effective and efficient development programmes. Currently, there are over 113 development projects under the PforR implementation guide, totaling $33.1 billion of Bank financing and a contribution to at least $200 billion in government programmes.
PforR operations disburse funds upon achievement of pre agreed results with indicators, and this is known as, Disbursement Link Indicators (DLI). This core principle of PforR, ensures certainty and expected performance of development projects. Nevertheless, experience shows that while PforR programmes focus explicitly on results through DLIs, there are issues associated with the integration of the indicators with the overall objective of the programmes. This training, therefore, aims to build the capacity of project officers in managing Disbursement Link Indicators (DLI) for a successful implementation of Programme-for-Result interventions.
