Why you should attend

The promotion of social and behavioural change in communities engender the empowerment of people and communities in adopting positive practices that are useful for achieving robust community development. In addition, social and behavioural change enhances the breaking of barriers that are inimical to the realization of more equitable, inclusive, cohesive and peaceful societies. However, social and behavioural changes are complicated and complex matters that have associated challenges because they usually result in the disruption of habits that people are already familiar with as well as the introduction of new behaviours that are alien to the people. Furthermore, some issues which include lack of visible feedback, lack of immediate consequences, poor peer support, inadequate social proof and poor ownership of change process are also compounding the challenges of embracing social and behavioural changes on vital issues. Therefore, concerted efforts through community campaigns, stakeholders’ engagement and advocacy should be deployed appropriately in the promotion of social and behaviour change. Sequel to the afore-mentioned, this training is designed to ensure that concerned stakeholders possess the skill set for effectively using community campaign techniques, implement stakeholders’ engagement and advocacy plans for proper stimulation of desired social and behavioural change. Also, participants will be exposed to how entertainment education and social marketing can be deployed as viable tools for effective and result-oriented community campaigns, stakeholders’ engagement and advocacy.
