Why you should attend

Promoting gender equity has been a critical issue that has been in the front of all spheres of life in developing countries in general and in project implementations in particular. Hence, the emergence of interventions that confront the entrenched beliefs and cultural norms from which gender inequalities develop, and efforts to engage all sectors of society in redressing these inequalities especially in project execution are increasingly becoming prominent. Although, gender equity is not skewed to any gender either male or female, there have been much emphasis on promoting gender equity in the favour of the female gender which rationale because limited opportunities that female gender due to the patriarchal nature of most of the developing countries. In reversing the trend of gender inequalities, the idea of Gender Equity and Social Inclusion was developed. The mainstreaming of GESI in project execution has the potentials of promoting the voices of women, enhancing gender inclusive decision making process, adequate participation of the female gender in project implementation and ensuring that project implementation process is equitable and its benefits reach marginalised groups. However, the task of facilitating GESI mainstreaming in project management require proper understanding, will power and the capacity of all concerned stakeholders especially project staff. Therefore, this training is aimed at equipping participants with relevant skills that are pivotal to appropriate and sustainable involvement of the marganilized gender in all aspects of project cycle. In line with the aforementioned, participants will be exposed tools for effective mainstreaming GESI in project management. In addition, the competence of the participants in ensuring gender equity and social-inclusive governance will be enhanced during the training period.
