Why you should attend

Social cohesion helps in building strong and socially cohesive communities. Social cohesion refers to positive social relationships. A socially cohesive society is one which works towards the well-being of all its members, fights exclusion and marginalisation, creates a sense of belonging, promotes trust and offers its members the opportunity of upward mobility. However, maintaining this cohesion can be a challenge as rapid social change, particularly in growth areas, can result in disharmony between newly arrived groups and established communities. Life challenges come in different faces as vulnerable groups are continually facing life challenges in form of social discrimination, violence, and disasters of different kinds, resulting in loss of or separation from family, deterioration in living condition, and lack of access to proper services. Although they sometimes receive humanitarian aid in the form of welfare packages, these packages need to be supplemented with restorative and life-sustaining programmes to improve their livelihood. Therefore, resources must be directed towards confidence building, strengthening social cohesion and development, resettling, entrepreneurship and other life-improving opportunities of the vulnerable groups. In light of this, there is a need to develop the capacity of relevant authorities in charge of social protection projects in order to achieve desired results. Thus, this training has been designed to furnish participants with tools, techniques, and strategies for empowering and fortifying the vulnerable groups with innovative opportunities that will improve their livelihood and social inclusion.
