Why you should attend

Social protection is an approach towards thinking about the processes, policies and interventions which respond to the economic, social, political and security risks and constraints poor and vulnerable people face, and which will make them less insecure and less poor, and more able to participate in economic growth. Social Protection Floor (SPF) are nationally-defined sets of basic social security guarantees secure protection aimed at preventing or alleviating poverty, vulnerability and social exclusion in women, children, old or frail people and persons with disabilities. SPFs hold a promise for GVGs who are over-represented among those excluded from the current social protection schemes. However, despite of the adoption of community-driven approach in developmental projects to combat the marginalisation of the poor and vulnerable in our society, the vulnerable have not had full or equal access to available social infrastructure they need. In respect to this, the world bank and other development agencies are of the opinion that continued progress against global poverty will require gender equity and the inclusion of vulnerable groups in all aspects of development programmes. This reveals that there is the need for all involved personnel to work out ways to make SPFs work for GVG and other disadvantaged groups. Participants at this training will be exposed to practical approaches and strategies for ensuring gender equity in the administration and implementation of social protection programmes for equitable and sustainable development.
