Keeping all stakeholders in a loop through effect communication is the life blood of project management. This requires only identifying the stakeholders but also understanding their unique communication needs at various points in the project. It is also believed that happiness of stakeholders is one of the key considerations to completing a project that is successful and sustainable. Considering the general belief that about 90% of a project’s operation is implemented through communication, underlines the fact communication requires a well – coordinated planning in project management. Effective communication is a key component in project management, allowing project to progress smoothly and on time. It ensures team members are aligned on project goals and understand exactly what is expected of them. Effective communication also helps build trust to everyone works better together from project to finish. According to Project Management Institute (PMI), it is expected that a project manager spends 90% of his her time communicating with stakeholders and team members, with successful leadership premised on clear goals, performance, responsibility, achievements and challenges. However, managing communication effectively among stakeholders, implementation team and even the beneficiaries of the project requires a good sense of public relations, knowledge of information education and communication, skilful report writing and technical knowledge control and information dissemination. Given the above scenario, there is a need to build capacities of a project managers on strategies, tools, community engagement process and approaches that will facilitate effective and efficient communication in projects implementation.
